Horsham Weald Local - Local Training Manager


An enthusiastic adult volunteer is needed to manage the learning process of adult volunteers in Horsham Weald Scout District.

You are likely to be an experienced team leader or manager and have bucket-loads of enthusiasm and energy. You will have skills or an interest in adult learning.

As the Local Training Manager you will:

  • Act as line manager for a Local Training Administrator.
  • Act as line manager for a small team of Training Advisers.
  • Plan and ensure that all adults in the District have access to suitable learning opportunities appropriate to their role.
  • Be an active member of the County Training Team.
  • Liaise closely with the local Scout District management team

Previous experience of Scouting as a child or adult is not essential but would be useful. Full training and induction will be provided.  

Enhanced DBS check and references will be required.

You will be able and willing to travel within West Sussex and have access to your own car/transport, for which expenses will be paid.

Ideally you will be based/live within or near to the Horsham or Southwater area and be able to undertake admin duties from home.

Administrative Assistance



Role description:
Modern Scouting requires accurate records and monitoring of membership numbers, adult:child ratios and training obligations. Individuals with administrative skills and IT competencies are required at District and Group levels to help with the administration of the organisation.

Some of these roles can be performed at home and through the use of telephone and IT forms of communication. Access to computer equipment and the internet will be essential to the roles.

Time commitment:
It is difficult to identify the time required but consideration should be given to on average at least 1 or 2 hours a week to fulfill these roles.

Some training may be required depending on the role taken up.

Group Scout Leader – 1st St Leonards Forest Scout Group



Role description:
This is a large Scout Group that requires a Group Scout Leader (GSL) to work with the Chairman, Executive Committee and leaders to help promote and manage the Group.
Previous Scouting experience is not essential but preferred.
It is primarily a management role to support the delivery of the Scout programme to the young people of this area of Roffey, North Horsham.

This appoint is subject to satisfactory references and safeguarding checks.

Time commitment:
The role will require time during evenings and at weekends.
It is difficult to identify the time required but consideration should be given to on average 4 hours a week.

Training:
Training will be required to fulfil this role effectively.

Group Scout Leader – 1st Partridge Green Scout Group



Role description: 
This is a small but growing Scout Group that requires a Group Scout Leader (GSL) to work with the Chairman, Executive Committee and leaders to help promote and grow the group further.

It is primarily a management roles to support the delivery of the Scout programme to the young people of this rural community.

Assistant District Commissioner (Scouts)



Role description: 
To assist the District Commissioner to promote and monitor the delivery of the Scout programme in the Scout Sections across the Horsham Weald District. 
The Assistant District Commissioner [Scouts] (ADC [Scouts]) role will include periodically meeting with Scout Leaders, visiting Troop meetings and arranging District events supported by a team of District Leaders.
